Our Pajama Party with Hanna Andersson

The best kind of party is the pajama kind. So with our friends at Hanna Andersson, we leaned all the way into that ease and took over a suite at The Dominick in Soho for a mid-day mommy-and-me slumber party. “Slumber” is a stretch, of course, since there was no sleeping. Our kids were operating at an energy level typically reserved for Olympic sprinters (speaking of Olympics… we have an exciting interview going live this week, so be on the lookout for that). Thankfully, the beauty of a pajama party is that chaos is sort of on-theme. In fact, it’s really, really fun.

We had a Polaroid station and ornament-making on one end of the room. On-theme stickers traveled from the table to the walls to several unsuspecting parents’ backs. There were balloons everywhere. We streamed holiday movies that our kids ignored in favor of coloring and running and sticking adhesive gems to wooden craft sticks.

There’s a moment at every kid-filled gathering where the adults give each other That Look; the “this is unhinged but also kind of perfect” look. We caught ourselves doing it over and over. Maybe it was the PJs. Maybe it was the light pouring in through those giant windows covered in Spread the Jelly and Hanna Andersson decals.

And while we’re not usually dress-code people (motherhood gives you enough rules before lunch), we were very into this one. Hanna Andersson’s buttery-soft PJs — matching for us and our littles — felt like an instant exhale. These are pajamas you want to live in. The kind you can parent in, craft in, lounge in, panic-wrap-gifts-in. Holiday-ready prints that make you feel festive even when you’re wiping someone’s face or negotiating over a snack.

But honestly, the real ~holiday magic~ wasn’t the matching sets or the crafts or the white-fish Apollo bagels. It was the tiny conversations happening between sips of cold brew and orange juice: swapping bedtime routines, sharing the nap trick that worked last week, laughing at the impossibility of getting one Polaroid where no one is crying or blinking or trying to grab a balloon. This was why we partnered with Hanna Andersson in the first place—they get that family moments are messy and sticky and real. The whole point of Spread the Jelly is creating parent-to-parent moments that make you feel a little less alone, and this event felt exactly right.

If motherhood has taught us anything, it’s that joy and chaos tend to arrive as a package deal. This party was no exception. It was messy and loud and perfect, a reminder that comfort doesn’t have to be quiet, and holidays don’t have to be polished to be beautiful. Especially when you’re surrounded by the people you love and pajamas soft enough to make you forget about slipping into jeans.

We’ll call it what it was: our favorite kind of party. Catch us wearing these PJs all year long. Our kids, too.
